Ingredients

  • figs
  • small quantity water
  • a few drops lemon juice
  • thin slices buttered bread
  • finely chopped peanuts
  • pieces buttered bread

Method

  1. Remove stems and finely chop figs; add a small quantity of water, cook in double boiler until a paste is formed, then add a few drops of lemon juice.
  2. Cool mixture and spread on thin slices of buttered bread; sprinkle with finely chopped peanuts and cover with pieces of buttered bread. ( (finely chopped). )

  • A double boiler is a bowl or insert set over simmering water.
