Ingredients

  • pears
  • small piece ginger root
  • a few slicings lemon rind
  • syrup

Method

  1. Wipe and pare fruit.
  2. Cook whole with stems left on, or remove stems, cut in quarters, and core.
  3. Follow Directions for Canning.
  4. A small piece of ginger root or a few slicings of lemon rind may be cooked with syrup.
  5. Bartlett pears are the best for canning.
