Ingredients

  • ¾ cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1½ teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon clove
  • 3 cups flour
  • ¾ cup raisins seeded and cut in pieces

Method

  1. Cream the butter, add sugar gradually, molasses, sour milk, and raisins.
  2. Mix and sift remaining ingredients, and combine mixtures.
  3. Bake fifty minutes in a deep pan.
